This Saturday, my team (the blazers) got challenged pretty hard by a young Sabres team. Big props go out to them.....Going into a game like that, we expect to win because we have more experience in the league, but does experience in age also play a factor?. I dont know, maybe, or maybe just coincidences.
Last week the Nordiques picked up veteran indoor ball hockey player, Sam Sharma, and their team looks even better with his years of experience. If teams want to get better at the trade deadline...they should consider experience and maybe age experience too in their trades and roster moves.
Just to see if theres anything to it (average age and place in the standings) I went ahead and estimated average ages for teams in the BCHL.
1. Nordiques: 26 years avg
2. Golden Seals: 23 years avg
2. Whalers: 23 years avg
4. Scrantonicity: 22 years avg
5. Blazers: 21.5 years avg
6. North Stars: 21 years avg
7. Sabres: 18 years avg
7. Jets: 18 years avg
Compared to the standings, there might be a positive correlation between age experience and success, however the Blazers are 5th in this statistic, but 1st in the league.
But there might be something to this as the other teams at the top of this age list are arguably 3 of the top 4 teams in the league (1. Nordiques, T2. Whalers, T2. Golden Seals.)
The only missing team of the bchl's elite is the Blazers, if they had one of the highest average age's then this comparision might be more legit.
